Who We Are

Mission: To empower and inspire young people from across Livingston County through an accessible, dedicated, and interactive community-led educational program.

Grand Equestrians is the Livingston County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program that provides equine facilitated therapy to children with special needs. It is founded on the accepted principle that horseback riding is a valuable form of therapy for disabled individuals. Our students have a wide range of developmental challenges such as: Cerebral Palsy, Spinabifida, Down’s Syndrome and Autism.

What We Do

Riding offers numerous benefits, including improved posture, balance, gait, coordination, strength, and flexibility through the horse’s movement and targeted exercises. It enhances sensory awareness, concentration, and self-discipline while fostering self-confidence and a positive attitude as riders master control over the horse.

Volunteers are the backbone of the Grand Equestrian program. Without the assistance of these individuals, the children would not be able to ride the horses and experience the benefits the program aims to provide.
