Who We Are
Mission: To bring people together to build stronger communities and improve lives.
The Livingston County United Way was officially incorporated as a United Way on February 4, 1977. Prior to that time, beginning in the early 1950s, each of the county’s six communities had its own Community Chest, all doing their own individual fund raising, administration and allocation processes. At the time this seemed to work best for the individual communities. However, the population of Livingston County grew rapidly in the seventies, and a more regionalized structure better served the greater need for services. Today that six-community Community Chest has expanded to an annual campaign fund raising effort of $1,000,000. The Livingston County United Way invests in over 40 health and human service programs and community initiatives to meet the most critical needs of Livingston County residents.
What We Do
Livingston County United Way elevates the quality of life for all residents through proactive community-focused initiatives that link resources, ideas and partners as part of something greater. Inspired by the passion, expertise and generosity of the Livingston County community, we bring together diverse individuals and organizations to ensure that our children are ready for all that life has to offer; our families are economically stable, with the supports they need to thrive; and all residents are afforded the opportunities to live their healthiest lives. United, we are meeting challenges head on and building a vibrant community.
